Healing the Mind: Unlocking the Unconscious Mind in a Shamanic Practice
by Bryan Mandrell | Sept. 14, 2025 | BlogHealing The Unconscious Mind in a Shamanic Practice
It’s about uncovering the deep-rooted unconscious patterns, loops, beliefs, and emotional imprints that shape our clients’ reality.
The unconscious mind stores not just memories, but also meanings… interpretations we formed as children, survival strategies we developed in times of fear, trauma, and protective beliefs that once served us but now limit our growth.
These hidden imprints and unconscious loops can drive anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and self-sabotage without us even realizing why.
True healing begins when we stop trying to “think or talk our way out” and instead look inward and uncover the unconscious patterns that hold our clients back from progressing in session and in life.
By working with the unconscious mind, we are healing the root of the old wounds and limiting beliefs. This is where lasting change takes place, not by forcing new thoughts, but by transforming the foundation from which those thoughts arise.
Why The Mind Realm Matters in Holistic Healing
That’s because insight and talking don’t always create transformation; sometimes, it can even retraumatize the client.
The conscious mind… is the part of us that talks, rationalizes, and sets intentions; it represents only a small fraction of our total mental guidance.
The real driver of behavior, emotions, feelings and even physical symptoms is the unconscious mind.
This is where trauma loops get encoded, where limiting beliefs are stored, and where early emotional imprints still run adult reactions and triggers. In many cases, our clients are trying to heal from experiences they don’t even remember… not because they’re not important, but because those experiences were stored in the body and unconscious as non-verbal memory and feelings.
To truly help our clients heal, we must learn how to work safely, skillfully, and compassionately in the unconscious mind realm.
The unconscious mind is like a fertile field. Everything we experience… especially during formative years… is planted here in the form of beliefs, unconscious loops, behavioral patterns, internal parts, and emotional associations. Over time, these unconscious imprints and loops determine how we respond to stress, form relationships, set boundaries, and even view ourselves.
In the Healing the Three Realms training, students learn how to access and heal this deeper part of their clients.
Using tools drawn from hypnosis, regression therapy, parts therapy, and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), you’ll discover how to:
-
Identify and resolve unconscious trauma loops still playing out from past experiences
-
Access and resolve unconscious beliefs like “I’m not safe” or “I’m not enough”
-
Work with internal parts such as the inner child, inner critic, or protector
-
Guide clients to reframe and reintegrate past traumas and limiting beliefs
This work is based on time-tested approaches that create deep and lasting shifts in clients.
One of the core modalities taught in this course is Spiritual Hypnosis… a spiritual approach to guiding clients into altered states where deep transformation can occur.
In these gentle yet powerful trance states, clients can:
-
Recover memories and emotions hidden from conscious awareness
-
Re-experience past traumas safely from a higher perspective
-
Connect with their soul self, spiritual guides, and inner healer
-
Retrieve lost aspects of self and restore inner wholeness
In addition to present-life regression, the training also introduces past life regression as a therapeutic tool… not from a dogmatic perspective, but as a symbolic and intuitive framework to understand soul patterns and ancestral trauma.
This therapeutic protocol allows the practitioner to access the unconscious mind… through imagery, physical sensations, symbolism, and stories… bypassing the critical mind and opening a space for deep healing.
What makes Healing the Three Realms training unique is its blend of therapeutic structure and spiritual depth. While rooted in ancient shamanic traditions, the course is also designed for modern healers, therapists, and facilitators who work in trauma-informed, professional settings.
Students are trained to recognize signs of unresolved trauma and trauma responses, understand the nuances of somatic and emotional responses, and assess whether a client is truly ready to explore deeper layers of the unconscious mind. This includes learning how to track nervous system cues, be in tune with subtle shifts in energy, and gently invite the client into deeper awareness… without overwhelming their system or bypassing protective mechanisms.
Healing in the unconscious mind realm often results in change that feels effortless. Clients might say:
- “It’s like something finally clicked.”
- “I didn’t even realize how much I was carrying.”
- “I don’t feel the same anxiety in my body anymore.”
- “It’s not just that I think differently… I feel different.”
They’re not simply managing symptoms. They’re becoming different from the inside out, because the root of the trauma has been transformed… not just talked about.
This is the power of working in the Mind Realm: it creates shifts that ripple out into every part of a person’s life.
While deeply spiritual, the Healing the Three Realms approach is also trauma-informed and ethically grounded. You’ll be trained to recognize client readiness, avoid retraumatization, and work within appropriate windows of tolerance… especially when navigating unconscious material.
What makes this course unique is how it blends clinical skill with intuitive and shamanic wisdom. You’ll learn to trust both your training and your inner knowing, using tools from NLP, hypnosis, and shamanic traditions to support healing that is both grounded and esoteric.
Helping Clients Create Lasting Change
Healing the unconscious mind produces changes that feel natural, not forced. Clients often describe a sense of release, clarity, or inner peace… without having to rehash their trauma again and again.
As a practitioner, you’ll be able to hold space for:
-
Emotional healing that doesn’t rely on therapeutic techniques that your clients have already tried
-
New behaviors that emerge from deep inner shifts
-
Reconnection with the soul’s wisdom and purpose
This is the heart of the Mind Realm within the Three Realms: helping clients shed their story… not by denying the past, but by transforming how the past lives in them.
Healing the unconscious mind is not about fixing what is broken… it’s about reframing and healing the client’s life story. By learning to work with trauma loops, inner parts, and deep belief systems, practitioners can help clients experience true transformation from the inside out.
The Healing the Three Realms training offers a practical treatment path for those ready to guide others through this powerful inner healing. It honors both ancient wisdom and modern therapeutic tools, equipping you with the confidence and clarity to support healing where it truly begins: in the unconscious mind.
